For Your Wonders Consultation

Each consultation will be a one-hour online meeting with Alison and Kate to explore your priority issues or concerns about your child’s wellbeing, development, education, or behaviour.

The number of consultations will be guided by your needs. You are welcome to invite other parties to the meeting, for example, another professional or member of school staff, where appropriate.

*Please note that we are currently unable to consult with parents/carers resident in Hampshire or the Isle of Wight (excluding Southampton or Portsmouth City Council areas) or about children and young people who attend  school in these areas.

  • Will it be right for me?

Whether you are unsure of why your child is experiencing difficulties, already have a good understanding of their needs or are somewhere in between, consultation can help.

We consult about children and young people up to the age of 25 where needs in any of the following areas are impacting on their learning, development, wellbeing, or happiness:

    • Behaviour and emotions
    • Communication and language development
    • Learning and academic progress
    • Social interactions and friendships

We are not a diagnostic service, but we can consult about the impact of: ADHD and executive function, attachment and trauma, anxiety including emotionally based school avoidance, autism, dyslexia and dyscalculia, developmental coordination disorder, memory and processing difficulties and sensory processing.

  • How can I use consultation?

All of our consultations are different, but here are some of the questions that our clients have asked:

    • "My daughter’s teacher is concerned she may be dyslexic and has advised me to get a private assessment.  I don’t know if this is the best way forward and really want to think it through with someone.”
    • “I really don’t know what I need, but I’m feeling overwhelmed because my child is really unhappy and I just don’t know how to help her.”
    • “I want to think about my son and his homework.  It’s causing lots of arguments at home and I don’t know how I can help him.”
    • “We need to write our contribution to our child’s Education Health and Care Plan assessment, but we are finding it really hard to articulate his complex needs.”
    • "I am looking for a secondary school for both my children with different needs.  I have meetings with several  headteachers arranged and need to make the best use of this time."
    • "My son seems to have some learning and language needs and we'd like to pay for some help, but we are unsure which professional to approach and what to ask for."
  • What will a consultation cost?

A For Your Wonders consultation consists of:

    • a one hour meeting with two educational psychologists
    • a brief written record of the meeting sent via email  within five working days of the consultation

Each consultation costs £149, payable at time of booking.

Fresh perspective, new actions.

“Kate and Alison showed me so much kindness and understanding at a time of stress and pressure.” DS, 2022
